Mr Ishi began kyokushinkai karate when he was 16 years old at Ehimey a city on Shikoku island. He obtained his black belt at 18 years old. At 22 he opens his first dojo in which he would teach kyokushinkaï until he was 27 years age. During those 5 years he opened dojos in Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe etc… and in other cities of Japan. More than 5000 pupils were listed in his schools. He then decided to create his own style of karate in 1982, it is called: the ” Seido-kaïkan ” (the way of authenticity) a mixture of Kyokushin and full contact to which the fist techniques prove very close to English boxing. In the same year he organize the first championship of Seido-Kaïkan in Japan in the form of an Open competition in Osaka. It was open to all styles and 5000 spectators attended the event. Throughout those years he developed and organized Seidokan in Japan.
At the time of the 7th tournament in 1988, Mr. Ishi decided to replace the tatami by a boxing ring, an idea which he had toyed with already for some time. He decided, moreover, to authorize the blows of fist to the face and imposed consequently in the competitions the wearing of gloves with the seidokan label. Then thereafter Ishi started to invite to the competitions of Shidokan the better known champions of kick sport among which were Maurice Smith(kickboxing), Geroud Gardeau or the famous Chang Peuk (thaïland) to confront them in this tournament.
